THESIS: TEETH
My starting point is social development. I've been thinking about how social development affects my real life. One day, while talking to my sister on the phone, I learned it was time for my nephew to lose his baby teeth. It occurred to me that when I was a child, adults always told us that if we lost our upper teeth, we had to throw them under the bed. If we lost our lower teeth, we had to throw them on the roof, and when we did so, we had to keep our feet in alignment so that the new teeth would grow out neatly and beautifully. So, I asked my sister if my nephew had thrown his old baby teeth on the roof or under the bed. She said there was no roof or space under the bed where she lived now. Suddenly, I thought: “Aha, so that's how it's changed.”
